Emphasis was put on designing the central multifunction room and the buildings’ lighting was enhanced with both natural and artificial light sources. New colors and materials were introduced as well.

In the summer of 2004 the city of Espoo together with the Finnish Association of Architects organized an explorative invited competition to design a children’s home in Saunalahti, Espoo. Front-row architect offices were asked to submit their designs for the challenging and exciting building site.

Ideark’s proposal was a bold vision of a building situated on a set of pillars that left the yard free for other use.
